I enjoy a good competition. Even if it's 'against' myself.
So, after getting some ideas from message boards and other blogs, I've set a few reading goals and challenges for myself for next year. I'm attempting to read more, and read things I might not normally pick up.
Since I really have no idea how many books I read in a year (I've never bothered to keep track, except during the summer reading program at the local library when I was younger!), I've set my goal for 2009: 100 books. That may be way too high, or maybe it's not really that far off. I guess I'll find out!
And to try to branch out a little bit, I'll be doing an A to Z challenge for the year - the goal being to read a book that starts with each letter of the alphabet. I thought I might come across some interesting books that way, especially with some of the more tricky letters.
One other thing I'd like to do is read more Pulitzer Prize winning books. I saw the complete list, and I've only read five of them! So, I'd like to read at least two of those in 2009. I'll start small on that one!
Feel free to share book recommendations! I just ordered several new books (hooray for Barnes and Noble gift cards!), and have several on my bookshelf that I haven't read yet, plus a few series that I'm planning to re-read soon, so I should be set for awhile...but I'm always looking for something new!
You have way too much time on your hands if you can read 100 books! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're just jealous! ;)
ReplyDeleteNaw...it may be way off, and that's fine...I just like goals. haha. And it's not like every book I read has to be 500 pages or something. It's really only 2 books a week. Towards the end maybe I'll get desparate and start counting kid books ;)
For your Z book, read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintanence. I love that book!
ReplyDeleteThanks Celestia! I'll put that on my list!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap Katie!! Thats a lot of books! I'm excited if I have time to finish one book in a month!! haha ;)
